7pm - 8pm, Learning the Best Side with Ravie B.
Ravie B. will work with attendees to give them the tools to capture great portraits, both candid and posed. She will show them her process of portrait taking as well as explain what she thinks makes a great portrait photo.
8:30pm - 9:30pm, 'Of Rainbows ' Sustainable Fabric Dying workshop with Aurora James
We all see the world in different ways, we see colors and process colors differently. But what is our connection to color, how can we make color? Where do our favorite colors come from? Of Rainbows is a workshop hosted by Brother Vellies founder, Aurora James, experienced by you. Join BV at The Other Art Fair to experience vegetable dyes from Avocado Pink to Ouagadougou Indigo. Dye one of your favorite things, or one of ours. A Selection of hand-picked vintage apparel will be there to hand dye the shades you dreamt the night before.
4pm - 5:30pm, Create Your Canvas With Jessica Walsh
Jessica will take you through examples of her studios photo work & set design, answering questions along the way. After learning some tips and tricks workshop attendees will plan and execute their own mini-photo shoot. This will include ideation, planning & executing a photo that expresses how each group interprets the idea of “Find Your Canvas”. Every team will have the opportunity to style, paint, and of course, play with props galore! The workshop will end with some photo moments in front of the custom designed canvases.
7pm - 9pm, 'Wear It Like A Rockstar’ Garment Embellishment with Christian Joy
Revamp your wardrobe by learning some simple and inexpensive techniques that will add new life to an old denim jacket or sweatshirt. Learn ways to cut, print and add easy to sew embellishments that will give your garment fresh and dynamic look. Please bring an item that you would like to re-style.
12pm - 1pm, Beat Matching with AMRIT
Created for the absolute beginner with no prior experience, a 1-hour class that will focus on basic beat matching and walk through a general introduction to DJing. Attendees can expect to walk out with an understanding of how to use CDJs, mixing and transitioning between tracks.
3pm - 4pm, A Brighter World Through Design with Ramzy
Ramzy Masri is a non-binary content creator who believes in a the power of design to make positive social change. His work reimagines the world as a magical queer normative safe space, drenched in rainbows. Ramzy will give a lecture about his work and share a behind the scenes look at his process with attendees, live-editing a photo in his signature colorful style. Aside from learning photo editing tips and tricks, guests will find inspiration to use their imaginations and passions to envision a brighter world.
5pm - 6pm, Designing with Plants by Tula, Plants & Design
This workshop will cover how to identify the various microclimates in your home and introduce the best plants for them. We will also discuss how to design with heights, plant texture, shapes and sizes. As well as breakdown soil structures and how to build soil for different plant species. We will demonstrate best repotting methods, when it is time to repot and when it is not time to repot. Attendees will build their own soil and then choose from pre-selected 4” plants and 4.5” planters to pot their new plants.
1:30pm - 3:30pm, Botanical Patterns with Sara Boccaccini
During this workshop we'll be painting botanical patterns using watercolor and gouache. We'll then make a repeat tile by cutting and assembling your botanical painting. The tile can be photocopied or scanned to create a wallpaper or digital patterns for your phone.
4pm - 6pm, Perfume Workshop with Aba Love Apothecary
Create a custom aromatic blend in the spirit of personal stories with Aba of Aba Love Apothecary. In this 2 hour workshop, we will create a pure botanical perfume oil blend to journey with you on your wildest adventures.
In this class we will –
• We will explore a variety of treasured oils and fundamental ingredients
• Cover top, heart and base notes and how they relate to each other
• Discuss the unique energy of each essential oil & the personal connection to oils
• Discuss aromatic character & scent profiles.
By the end of class, students will have created a 10ml botanical blend their new-found olfactory finesse!
